An event dedicated to the International Day of "Women and Girls in Science" was held on February 11

An event dedicated to the February 11 UN International Day of "Women and Girls in Science" was held under the joint organization of the Women's councils of the Institute of Radiation Problems and the Institute of Physics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The management of the Women's Organization of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and women employees of the institutes took part in the event.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played at the event.

Later, the dear memory of our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of the Motherland, as well as the victims of the earthquake who died in our brotherly Turkey, were commemorated with respect and reverence.

Then, the Chairperson of the Women's Council of the Institute of Radiation Problems, Ravan Mehdiyeva, welcomed the participants and also gave information about this year's UN theme called "Digitality for all: innovation and technology for gender equality". Despite the fact that the history of science in our country is younger than that of European countries, R. Mehdiyeva, speaking about the achievements of Azerbaijani women and girls in science, said that no matter how delicate a woman is, she understands her responsibility in all areas of life and always strives to carry the burden of this responsibility on her shoulders.

At the event, Aygün Nasibova, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor made the presentation about enlightened woman Nazli Tahirova-Najafova, entitled "Light in the Darkness", Gulchin Mahmudlu "Women who have left a mark in history", Lamiye Sadygli "The Role of Girls and Women in Science", Tarana Nurubayli, Doctor of Sciences in Physics, Associate Professor "Azerbaijani woman is an example for all women of the world!" and Dr. Raida Ibayeva, Ph.D. in physics, "Contributions of Azerbaijani women to science".

In the end, the Chairperson of ANAS Women's Organization, Professor Rena Mirzazade, concluded the event, highly appreciated the event and thanked the organizers for the active participation of young people.
