4 students’ projects led by scientists of the Institute of Radiation Problems won an award

The students led by the scientist of the Institute of Radiation Problems won the prize at this year's "Scientists of Tomorrow" XII national competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Confederation of Azerbaijan Trade Unions, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the BP company.

Thus, the project entitled "New thin film solar energy photo converters" implemented under the leadership of the laboratory head of the institute, doctor of physical sciences, associate professor Matanat Mehrabova in the laboratory of "Conversions of renewable energy types" and presented by Abdullazade Arhun, 9th grade student of "Young Talents High School" of Baku State University and Leyla Maharramova, 10th grade student of Landau School was awarded the 3rd place in the competition.

In the project, CdTe/p-CdMnS thin-film hetero junctions were obtained, and their electrical, optical and photoelectric properties were studied. The spectral range of photosensitivity was determined, which covers the wavelength range of 0.4-0.9 μm. The dependence of the electrical conductivity on illumination has been shown, so that the obtained hetero junction can be the best example for solar photo converters.

It should be noted that in the mentioned competition, the project called "Smart carbon monoxide detector" (heading by Magsud Nazarov) developed jointly with the students of Baku European Lyceum in the Innovative Research Group of the Institute won the 2nd place on the "Physics-astronomy" topic, the project called "Vibro Tactile Player" ( heading by Namik Heydarov) was awarded the 3rd place on the "Engineering" topic, and the "Robobin" project (heading by Ibrahim Nuriyev) was awarded the 3rd place on the "Ecology-Environment Management" topic.
