At the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republican scientific-technical conference - "Radiation technologies and their applications" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great leader Heydar Aliyev was held.

Firstly, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played at the conference.

Then, the dear memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the sons of Motherland who were martyred for the sake of the territorial integrity of our country, and those who lost their lives in the earthquake in brotherly Turkey were commemorated with a minute's silence.

Speaking at the event, General Director of RPI, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev greeted the participants of the conference and informed them about the history of the Institute, scientific activities and achievements, personnel potential and international cooperation.

In his speech, I. Mustafayev touched upon the activities of laboratories equipped with modern devices and equipment, spoke about cooperation with state institutions and universities, and also drew attention to innovative projects, successes in international competitions and festivals, achievements of institute scientists in international scientific rankings.

Then the vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Rasim Aliguliyev, first conveyed the greetings of the president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli and members of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences to the conference participants. In his speech, R. Aliguliyev spoke about the great leader Heydar Aliyev's constant care and attention to science, the ahead-of-time ideas and thoughts, and his exceptional merits in the development of science in Azerbaijan and he highly appreciated the contributions of the Institute of Radiation Problems to the implementation of scientific and technical policy in Azerbaijan and the achievements of the institute.

Speaking later, Nijat Mammadli, adviser to the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev to the conference participants. Stating that the national leader's advanced science and education strategy, his constant care and attention to scientists and intellectuals, N. Mammadli said that this attention and care are continued today by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev and noted that new and modern education and science programs, innovative projects were implemented.

Speaking about the importance of the application of radiation technologies in other fields of science, N. Mammadli highly appreciated the activities of RPI, its contributions to interdisciplinary cooperation and the achievements of scientists, and wished success to the conference.

The vice-rector of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Professor Nigar Aslanova, who then spoke at the conference, conveyed to the participants of the conference greetings and congratulations from the rector of the university, Gulchohra Mammadova. N. Aslanova highly appreciated the active participation of the Institute of Radiation Problems in the process of integrating science and education, as well as the effective activities of the Institute and the achievements of scientists.

Then the Advisor to the President of ANAS, Academician Adil Garibov spoke about the achievements of the Institute of Radiation Problems. He said that the research carried out on modern devices and equipment in the laboratories of the institute is of great importance, and the institute has the potential of professional personnel in the areas of scientific activity.

At the conference, diplomas were presented to the scientists of the Institute - Namig Heydarov and Doctor of Physical Sciences Farid Ahmadov, who were honored on the occasion of the "Science Day".

Then the Plenary session of the conference was held.

At the meeting, Director General of the Institute of Radiation Problems, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev made a speech entitled "Development of science and education during Heydar Aliyev's leadership in Azerbaijan", Department Head of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS, Professor Sakit Huseynov on "Heydar Aliyev and Religious Policy in Azerbaijan" and executive director of RPI, doctor of philosophy in physics-mathematics, associate professor Ravan Mehdiyeva on"Heydar Aliyev's strategy for the development of radiation research in Azerbaijan".

After the break, the conference continued its work on sections.
