The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held.

The General Director of the Institute and corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, who delivered the introductory speech, brought the issues on the agenda to the attention of the meeting participants.

At the meeting, Doctor of Physics, Associate Professor Nushaba Hajiyeva, and Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Oktay Salamov, were awarded the Honorary Order for their many years of scientific and scientific-pedagogical activities.

Then, the young scientists of the institute, Rena Atakishiyeva and Rakhshana Mamishova, were presented with diplomas of "Doctor of Philosophy" (in chemistry) and "Associate Professor" (in the specialty of "Radiation Materials Science").

The issue of publishing the book "Radiation and thermal effects in beryllium and aluminum oxides" by Nushaba Hajiyeva, doctor of physical sciences, was discussed at the meeting, and permission was given to publish the book.

At the meeting, Doctor of Physics, Associate Professor, acting as the leading researcher of the "Radiation Physics of Disordered Solids" laboratory of the Institute, Elchin Huseynov’s application for receiving the academic title of professor and senior researcher of the "Radiochemistry and Radioprotectors" Laboratory, and Doctor of Philosophy in Biology Zohra Muslimova’s application for receiving the academic title of "Associate Professor,” were considered. Also, the issues of amending the dissertation topic and changing the scientific advisers of Azer Sadigov, a doctoral candidate in the field of "Radiation Materials Science" at the Institute, were discussed.

At the meeting of the Scientific Council, secret voting was held for the positions of head of department and laboratory. According to the results of the voting, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Namig Rashidov, was appointed as the head of the "Radiobiology" laboratory; Oktay Salamov, a candidate in physics and mathematics sciences, was appointed as the head of the "Conversion of Renewable Energy Types" laboratory; and Vugar Khudaverdiyev, PhD in physics and mathematics, was appointed as the head of the "Design-Constructor" department.

At the end of the meeting, the results of the attestation of employees and a number of current issues were discussed.
