The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held.

The General Director of the Institute and corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, who delivered the introductory speech, brought the issues on the agenda to the attention of the meeting participants.

At the meeting, the young scientist of the Institute, Guliyeva Narmin Rafig, was presented with the diploma of "Doctor of Philosophy" (in biology). Then the presentation of the honorary decree awarded at the "Rescue" festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev of the Institute took place.

The issue of publication of the book "Plant Radiobiology" by Professor Elimkhan Jafarov, a doctor of biological sciences, was discussed at the meeting, and permission was finally given to publish the book.

The issue of awarding the scientific titles of professor to Elchin Huseynov, Doctor of Physics, Associate Professor, acting as the leading researcher of the "Radiation Physics of Disordered Solids" laboratory, and associate professor to Zohra Muslimova, senior researcher of the institute's "Radiochemistry and Radioprotectors" laboratory, as well as associate professor to Aliyev Nabi, leading researcher of the Radiation Physics of Polymers and Electroactive Materials laboratory of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics, was discussed at the event.

At the meeting of the Scientific Council, a secret vote was held on awarding the academic titles of professor and associate professor. According to the results of the voting, the leading researcher of the "Radiation Physics of Disoredered Solids" laboratory, doctor of physical sciences, associate professor Elchin Huseynov, was awarded with the scientific title of "professor", the senior researcher of the Radiochemistry and Radioprotectors laboratory, doctor of philosophy in biology Zohra Muslimova, with the scientific title of "associate professor", and Aliyev Nabi, leading researcher of the Laboratory of Radiation Physics of Polymers and Electroactive Materials, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics, with the scientific title of "associate professor".

Also, regarding the issues included in the agenda of the meeting, the Executive Director of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Ravan Mehdiyeva, gave a speech regarding the presentation of half-yearly reports for 2023 on RPI; the head of the Laboratory "Radiation Physics of Disordered Solids", Corresponding Member of ANAS, Ogtay Samadov, gave a speech regarding the approval of the FD1.21 Dissertation Council for the specialties 2225.01 Radiation Materials Science and 2226.01 Radioecology.

In the end, the General Director of the Institute and Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, discussed with the meeting participants the steps taken in the direction of increasing the staff potential, the new technological equipment put into use, the launch of the international scientific journal "Journal of Radiation Researches" in the online version, and the repair and restoration works.
