An employee of the Institute of Radiation Problems participated in the inaugural meeting of the DETMED grant, which he won under the HORIZON-MSCA call, sponsored by the European Commission

Farid Ahmadov, Ph.D., in physical sciences, head of the Laboratory of Innovative Radiation Detectors, attended the inaugural meeting of the DETMED grant, which he received under the HORIZON-MSCA call, on October 24 at the Portuguese LUSOFONA University. Developing innovative, small-sized detector modules for medical gamma probes that function in a wide energy range and researching environmental influences on their properties are the primary goals of the DETMED project. Group leaders from the Institute of Radiation Problems, Center for Strategic Scientific Research, LUSOFONA University of Portugal, CASCATACHUVA LDA of Portugal, University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic, Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry named after V.I. Vernadsky of Ukraine, Technical University of Dortmund in Germany, Elmék Mozgásban Alapítvány of Hungary, Josef Stefan Institute of Slovenia, and Nanomaterials Research & Development SP. Z.O.O. of Poland gave speeches at the conference. Later, extensive discussions were held on the six work packages of the DETMED project. During the project, the preparation of new photodiodes—setting their parameters, preparation and testing of supporting electronic parts, and preparation and testing of the detector module—are planned.
