The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held

The General Director of the Institute and corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, who delivered the introductory speech, brought the issues on the agenda to the attention of the meeting participants.

Akhundzade Hajivahid and Mehriban Velijanova, two Institute employees, received "Doctor of Philosophy" diplomas during the gathering. Next on the agenda were the winter exam session for 2023, the doctorate exam issues, the institute's 2023 action plan, the planning of the activities that were not carried out, the preparation of the 2023 activity report, and significant scientific findings.

Later, the request of "Radiochemistry and Radioprotection" laboratory thesis student Mirzayev Nicat to change the thesis topic was evaluated. The executive director, associate professor R. Mehdiyeva, discussed the issue of publication of the results and abstracts of the conference "Radiation safety problems: regional aspects" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the late academician Mahmud Karimov in Nakhchivan on October 18–19.

The topics of discussion at the event included the awarding of titles of "professor" to Shiraz Mammadov, Ph.D., associate professor of chemical sciences and head of the Institute's "Radiation Chemistry and Technology of Polymers" laboratory; and titles of "associate professor" to Ulviyya Guliyeva, PhD, leading researcher of the "Environmental Radiation Chemistry" laboratory and Cicek Fetullah, Ph.D., senior researcher of the "Energy-saving radiation processes" laboratory. Subsequently, all personnel matters were settled in favorably during the Scientific Council meeting, which included a secret ballot on the granting of the academic titles of professor and associate professor.

The inclusion of the Radiation Researches Journal to the list of journals that scientific papers are accepted for scientific degrees and titles in the Republic of Azerbaijan was discussed.

In the end, issues of preparation for the jubilee of the employees of the Institute of Radiation Problems to be held in 2024, measures to strengthen labor and executive discipline, compliance with the rules for answering inquiries, and current issues were discussed.
