The memory of academician Mahmud Karimov was commemorated
The staff of the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) visited the grave of the former president of ANAS, academician Mahmud Karimov on the 73rd anniversary of his birth in the Alley of Honors and laid wreaths and flowers at the tombstone.
It should be noted that academician Mahmud Karimov began his scientific career in 1973 as an engineer at the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. From 1974 to 1984, he rose from junior researcher to head of laboratory in the Radiation Research Sector, and from 1984 he was director of the sector for 17 years.
Mahmud Karimov, who was elected President of ANAS in 2001, worked in this position until the end of his life (February 10, 2013).
