On December 8, a conference on "National Leader Heydar Aliyev: independent statehood, wisdom and modernity" was held at the Presidium of ANAS.

Opening the event, President of ANAS, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev said that a series of events are held annually on the eve of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev's Memorial Day in various institutions of the republic, abroad, as well as at ANAS and every year the memory of the great personality is commemorated with great gratitude and deep respect.

The President of ANAS noted that due to the wise policy and historical foresight of the world-famous politician Heydar Aliyev, the idea of national statehood, as well as the establishment of a modern Azerbaijani state and the realization of our people's dream of independence were achieved.

Then, the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli made a report on "Political foundations and goals of Heydar Aliyev's statehood training". The scientist said that Heydar Aliyev's socio-political views and perfect models of multifaceted state activity are being studied all over the world. He spoke about a number of important principles that determine this statehood.

I.Habibbeyli noted that the implementation of an independent and far-sighted foreign policy is also the basis of Heydar Aliyev's model of statehood. He noted that today President Ilham Aliyev has shown a perfect example of independent foreign policy.

In conclusion, I. Habibbayli stressed that the everlasting ideas of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev were further strengthened with the coming to power of President Ilham Aliyev and that our Supreme Commander-in-Chief gave our people a historic victory.

Director General of the Institute of Radiation Problems of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Islam Mustafayev made a report on "Heydar Aliyev and the development of intellectual potential in Azerbaijan" and said that the formation and development of our science and education since the late 1960s is connected with the name of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern independent Azerbaijan.

Speaking on "The role of Heydar Aliyev in the development of archeology and ethnography in Azerbaijan", Director General of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Abbas Seyidov spoke about the works done to develop archeology and ethnography in our country during the rule of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Speaking at the event, First Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov spoke about the unparalleled services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to our people and state, socio-political activity, his role in the development of socio-economic and cultural development of the republic.

Summing up the event, President of ANAS, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev said that under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan has entered a new stage of development in all areas. Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev said that National Leader Heydar Aliyev gained great fame as a great world-class politician, savior and powerful leader of his people.

The head of ANAS stressed that the process of state building, founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, is being persistently pursued by President Ilham Aliyev in accordance with the requirements of modern times.
