Employees of the Institute of Radiation Problems were on an expedition in Kalbajar

As a continuation of the radioecological studies conducted by the Institute of Radiation Problems in the territories liberated from occupation, an expedition was organized to study the quality characteristics of water resources in the Istisu area of Kalbajar district.

The expedition, coordinated by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, was led by the head of the institute's laboratory, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Khagani Mammadov. The main goal of the expedition was to determine the concentration of radioactive radon gas in water. "RAD7", "Radiogem", "Inspector-1000" devices of the Institute of Radiation Problems and "Alfaguard" devices of the special "Isotope" combine were used in the research. The obtained results were compared with the standards of the World Health Organization and the US Environmental Agency. Research conducted in 5 water sources shows that the concentration of radon-radioactive isotope in these waters does not exceed the permissible limit.
