A meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems

The next meeting was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Nijat Aliyev, head of the State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Akbar Guliyev, an employee of the said agency, participated in the meeting as guests.

Speaking at the meeting, the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev greeted the guests and drew attention to the history, scientific-organizational activity and important results of the scientific institution he leads. During his speech, I.Mustafayev, who gave information about the material-technical and personnel potential of the institute, as well as the research works conducted in our territories freed from occupation, said that the Institute is always ready for closer cooperation, and also emphasized the importance of radioactive waste inventory and joint activities in this field.

Then the Executive Director of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Ravan Mehdiyeva informed the guests about the international cooperation relations of the scientific institution, as well as the scientific directions of the laboratories and the important results obtained.

Nijat Aliyev, the head of the State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who spoke later, shared his good impressions about the Institute of Radiation Problems, as well as provided information about the legal basis of the research to be conducted and the current draft laws.

In order to increase the quality of education in the direction of radiation safety, it is planned to hold relevant trainings and seminars, while noting the importance of educating the population in this field, N. Aliyev also said that a Radiation Safety Monitoring Center will be established in the future.

In the end, the laboratory heads of the Institute - Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Khagani Mammadov and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Famil Khumbatov - gave information about the research works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and their results, as well as rhodium safety and the work to be done in this field.
