An event dedicated to "February 26 - Khojaly Genocide Day" was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played at the event jointly organized by the Institute's Trade Union and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, and then the dear memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide and the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a 1 (one) minute silence.

The General Director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, who gave an introductory speech at the commemorative event, said that the tragedy of Khojaly is a bloody page of the genocide and ethnic cleansing policy of Armenian nationalists against our people for centuries, and noted that it is a merciless crime committed against mankind and humanity due to its ruthlessness and cruelty. He said that our people have not forgotten and will never forget the atrocities of the hated enemy, as well as the participants in these crimes.

I. Mustafayev noted that it was possible to give a political and legal evaluation to the Khojaly genocide after the national leader Heydar Aliyev returned to political power in Azerbaijan, and said that the truth about the genocide had been conveyed to the countries of the world and the international community.

At the event, it was emphasized that the effectiveness of "Justice for Khojaly!" campaign announced at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is increasing year by year. The purpose of the events held within the framework of this campaign is to give a legal and political evaluation to the crime in Khojaly, and to achieve recognition of the Khojaly genocide by the whole world. The international information campaign "Justice for Khojaly!" is currently being successfully implemented in many countries of the world and is aimed at recognizing the tragedy at the moral and political-legal level.

At the end of his speech, I. Mustafayev, who talked about the crushing victory of the Azerbaijani army over the enemy in the 44-day Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020 under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, said that historical justice had been restored, the victims of the Khojaly genocide, as well as all the children of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the land, had been avenged, and our territorial integrity had been ensured.

Ali Mammadov, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, who spoke later, brought statistical information about the Khojaly genocide to the attention of the event participants.

At the end of the event, scientists of the Institute - Bakhtiyar Najafov and Fethullah Cicek spoke about the importance of "Justice for Khojaly!" campaign, as well as they said that all scientists and experts should actively participate in bringing this genocide event to a wider audience on a global scale.
