The consortium with the participation of Azerbaijani scientists won the grant under the EU framework programme

The project “Novel detector concept for medical gamma probe” (Grant Number No. 101129879) presented by scientists from the Institute for Radiation Problems within the framework of an international consortium was selected for funding under the “HORIZON EUROPE” MSCA-2022-SE-01 programme. The project was developed based on the scientific results and developed detector structures achieved by Azeri scientists in recent years. The project is planned to be implemented within 48 months. During this period, it is planned the preparation and investigation the parameters of new photodiodes, preparation and testing readout electronics, as well as preparation and testing the detector module. The main goal of the project is to develop new detection system for medical gamma probes operating in a wide range of energies with compact dimensions and to study external influences on its parameters.

Project budget: 1,660,000 EUR)

Scientists of the Laboratory of Innovative Ionizing Radiation Detectors of the Institute of Radiation Problems have extensive experience in the development of silicon photomultipliers and their application. In this direction, over the past 10 years, the laboratory has published more than 70 scientific papers, received 6 patents and implemented more than 10 grant (domestic and international) projects. In addition, our scientists are currently working on the project "Innovative photodetector module for advanced hybrid magnetic resonance imaging / positron emission tomography scanners" for nuclear medicine (grant number No. 101086178) within the framework of the HORIZON-MSCA-2021-SE-01. This project is funded by the European Commission and successfully implemented jointly with the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (implementation period: 2023-2027, budget: 1,458,200 EUR). Moreover, Laboratory is currently closely cooperating with scientific institutions in Turkey, Czech Republic, Portugal, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Canada, and Ukraine in the development and application of photodiodes.
