The Republican Scientific and Technical Conference on ”Radiological and Chemical Risks in the territories liberated from occupation“ has started its work

At the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republican Scientific-Technical Conference dedicated to the year of “Shusha” called ”Radiological and chemical risks in the territories liberated from occupation” has started its work.

At the conference, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was first played, and then the dear memory of the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute's silence.

The vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the head of the Physics-Mathematics and Technical Sciences Department of ANAS, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, who gave an opening speech at the event, conveyed the congratulations of the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli and the members of the Presidium to the participants of the conference.

R. Aliguliyev, who emphasized the importance of the conference dedicated to the "Year of Shusha" in his speech, spoke about the research conducted in the direction of radiation safety in the territories liberated from occupation, and highly appreciated the activity of the Institute's scientists in this field.

“As a result of the high attention and care shown by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev to science and scientists, today our scientists show high results and come up with innovative projects in the fields of environmental protection and radiation safety. Also, under the leadership of Supreme Commander, they actively participate in the preparation of the scientific basis for future development in the liberated Karabakh", said R. Aliguliyev.

Touching on the international cooperation relations of the Institute of Radiation Problems, the speaker highly appreciated the activities of scientists in this direction and wished success to the work of the conference.

Then the General Director of IRP, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev greeted the participants of the conference and spoke about the activity of the Institute in the fields of "clean environment and green growth" included in "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development".

Touching on the field research conducted in the Karabakh region, I. Mustafayev said that relevant innovative devices and equipment developed by the Institute's scientists were applied in the area and important achievements were made in this direction.

Talking about the institute's local and international relations, participation in international projects and personnel potential, Islam Mustafayev emphasized that young scientists and specialists play an active role in scientific research, and wished success to the work of the conference.

Later, academician Adil Garibov, member of the Presidium of ANAS, executive director of the Institute of Management Systems, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Aminagha Sadigov, Vugar Huseynov, Chairman of the State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities of the Ministry of Emergencies, Arastun Hasanov, Sector Head of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and Ravan Mehdiyeva, Associate Professor, Executive Director, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Mathematics, spoke about the conditions created for complex scientific research in the liberated territories, the interaction of various state institutions in this field, the importance of research and the results obtained, and said that important reports were included in the program of the conference.

The conference then continued its work with plenary meetings.

It should be noted that the second day of the Conference will be held in the city of Shusha, and the last reports related to the program will be heard.
