A commemorative event dedicated to "January 20 – National Mourning Day" was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Firstly, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played at the event.

Later, the dear memory of our martyrs, who died for the territorial integrity of the Motherland, was commemorated with respect and reverence.

Speaking at the commemorative event, General Director of the Institute, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Islam Mustafayev, shared his views on the events of January 20, as well as informed the participants of the event and about the social and political situation of that time and the struggle and heroism of our people for freedom.

Then Ali Mammadov, the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, who gave a speech, drew attention to the statistics about the January 20 tragedy, and also said that the crime committed against the people of Azerbaijan was actually a terrible act of terrorism against humanity.

The scientists of the Institute who spoke later at the event - Rahim Madatov, Hokmen Mahmudov, Nushaba Hajiyeva, Bakhtiyar Najafov and Nizami Huseynov wished God's mercy for our martyrs who are heroes of the national liberation struggle and who set an example in the education of new generations and it was emphasized that the sacrifice and dear memory of the brave sons of the Motherland are always remembered with great respect.
