V International Conference on “Perspectives of Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy” was held
On 21-23 November 2012 it was held the V International Conference on “Perspectives of Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy” jointly organized by the Institute of Radiation Problems of ANAS and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of AR.
The conference began on 21 November 2012 in the main building of ANAS. Conference with participation of scientist and specialists from 10 countries of the world was opened by president of ANAS, acad. Mahmud Karimov and he made speech on aim and significance of the conference, the actuality of the discussed issue, and the works carried out in Azerbaijan in this field.
Then director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, corresponding member of ANAS Adil Garibov delivered a lecture on “Fulfillments done in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy in the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
It was reported that since 2001, Azerbaijan is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and complies with all its principles and norms. Azerbaijan is actively involved in national and regional projects joint with the IAEA and other international organizations.
Making speech on the works done in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy and their results, A. Garibov stated that, at present, the most modern center over radiation standardization and calibration is created, registration of nuclear materials is carried out in accordance with international standards.
General Director of the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology of Warsaw, prof. Andrzej Chmielewski delivered a lecture on “The role of radiation process in technological development of the world”, the executive secretary of CIS Commission on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, Yevgeni Sobolev - on “Expansion of CIS members’ cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy”, deputy chair of Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan Republic, corresponding member of ANAS Veli Huseynov - on “Spin of the boson production in 125-126GeV energy growth on ATLAS and CMS experiments”.
Conference continued its work over section assemblies in ANAS Institute of Radiation Problems.
