A meeting with a Ukrainian scientist was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

Director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, Corresponding Member of ANAS Professor Ogtay Samadov welcomed the guest and informed about the activities of the Institute.

Then the head of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan International Science and Education Center (JUAI-REC-NBFN) from the Ukrainian-Azerbaijan International Research and Education Center, Dr. Taras Kavetski, thanked the institute management for their sincere welcome.

Further, Dr Taras Kavetski delivered a lecture on “Ion-Induced Processes in Polymers and Complex Compounds” and he spoke about the problem of determining the features of mechanism of defect formation in polymers irradiated with low-energy ions. The scientist also showed how to use positron anhydration spectroscopy to study these processes.

The report was greeted with interest by the participants of the meeting, and a wide exchange of views was held with the participation of Professor Rovshan Khalilov, Professor Rauf Sardarli and other scientists. At the end of the meeting, the prospects of joint cooperation between the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani International Science and Education Center and the RPI, as well as the Polish and Ukrainian universities for joint grant projects and scientific publications in reputable international journals were discussed.
