The next scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems

On November 28, 2023, the next scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Ministry of Science and Education. At the seminar, Orujova Khayala, a doctorate student of the Institute, gave a speech on the topic "Effect of ionizing radiation on the dielectric and electrical properties of TlIn1-xCxS2 crystals."

The Institute of Radiation Problems hosted training sessions for young people

The Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted youth training sessions.

Elsevar Hamidov, the speaker, gave a thorough report on the guidelines for working in a laboratory, how to grade and calibrate devices, and how people should behave around laboratory equipment on November 28 at the training on "Ensuring compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 17025) during laboratory work" sponsored by "AZSTANDLAB" LLC under the auspices of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute.

Annual reporting meetings of laboratories and departments at the Institute of Radiation Problems

The Scientific Council's November 20–27 meetings, which took place at the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Republic of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Science and Education, were devoted to discussing the scientific research projects completed in 2023.

Professor Islam Mustafayev, the Institute's general director and corresponding member of ANAS, gave a brief introduction to the report and informed the participants that the Institute's staff members had produced up to 30 noteworthy findings in 2023 from their research on 13 subjects in 4 scientific directions. Furthermore, a number of studies pertaining to state responsibilities were completed. Among these beneficial outcomes are the findings of radioecological research conducted in de-occupied areas, the creation of high-sensitivity radiation detectors, the impact of radiation on biological organisms, the production of nanocomposites, low-carbon radiation-chemical processes, etc.

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Radiation Problems (RPI) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held

The General Director of the Institute and corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, who delivered the introductory speech, brought the issues on the agenda to the attention of the meeting participants.

Akhundzade Hajivahid and Mehriban Velijanova, two Institute employees, received "Doctor of Philosophy" diplomas during the gathering. Next on the agenda were the winter exam session for 2023, the doctorate exam issues, the institute's 2023 action plan, the planning of the activities that were not carried out, the preparation of the 2023 activity report, and significant scientific findings.

We are also a happy generation that lives in independent Azerbaijan and witnesses these joyful, victorious days and holidays.

I sincerely congratulate you on November 8, Victory Day, the third anniversary of the historical victory won thanks to the successful policy of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the heroism of the brave Azerbaijan Armed Forces, and I wish you success in your scientific endeavors for the benefit of the development of our country.

An event dedicated to "November 8 - Victory Day" was held at the institute

Today, a solemn event was held on the occasion of Victory Day at the Institute of Radiation Problems of MSE. The event began with the singing of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a minute's silence was held in memory of our martyrs who gave us the glorious victory.

In his opening remarks, I. Mustafayev, the institute's general director and corresponding member of ANAS, stated that the Azerbaijani people's will and determination, as well as their nation's economic might, ability to build a modern army, and unity among the people, were crucial elements that guaranteed our nation's victory. He spoke of the Azerbaijani soldier and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, who penned another glorious heroic chronicle of the Azerbaijani people, demonstrating to the world that they are a victorious nation and have achieved a historic victory over the enemy. Next, he expressed his gratitude to the institute's staff members who fought in the Karabakh war. Three of the participants — Ramin Garibov, Samir Mustafayev, and Safa Alakbarli — spoke about their experiences on the front lines during the 44-day war.

The Institute of Radiation Problems arranged an environmental expedition to the Shusha and Lachin regions

From October 28 to November 4, two environmental expedition teams from the Institute of Radiation Problems conducted research in the Shusha and Lachin regions. The expedition included participation from Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources employees. The research work provided for in the Action Plan for 2023 of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was carried out on the implementation of the Action Plan of the “I State Program on the Great Return” to the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Institute of Radiation Problems hosted a seminar for master's students of the National Aviation Academy

On November 1, 2023, a seminar was organized for the first-year master's students of the Department of Aviation Safety of the National Aviation Academy at the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Master's students responded with interest to the topic "Application of unmanned aerial vehicles in various fields" covered in the presentation by Namig Heydarov, the head of the institute's "Innovative Research" group. Extensive discussions were held on the topic.

The Hungarian Institute of Nuclear Research and the Institute of Radiation Problems signed a cooperative agreement

On October 27, Ph.D. in physical sciences, Associate Professor F. Ahmadov, who is the head of the "Innovative ionizing radiation detectors laboratory," paid a visit to the Nuclear Research Institute of Hungary. Orkhan Rasulov, the leader of the IMF group, and Ujvári Balázs, PhD, the leader of the CERN group, met with Prof. Zsolt Dombradi, the director of the Nuclear Research Institute, during the visit. Hungarian Institute of Nuclear Research and Institute of Radiation Problems inked a cooperation agreement for 5 years.

An employee of the Institute of Radiation Problems participated in the inaugural meeting of the DETMED grant, which he won under the HORIZON-MSCA call, sponsored by the European Commission

Farid Ahmadov, Ph.D., in physical sciences, head of the Laboratory of Innovative Radiation Detectors, attended the inaugural meeting of the DETMED grant, which he received under the HORIZON-MSCA call, on October 24 at the Portuguese LUSOFONA University. Developing innovative, small-sized detector modules for medical gamma probes that function in a wide energy range and researching environmental influences on their properties are the primary goals of the DETMED project.

Staff members of the Laboratory of Innovative Radiation Detectors of the Institute of Radiation Problems, PhD in physical sciences Farid Ahmadov, PhD in physical sciences Ziraddin Sadigov, and PhD in physics Gadir Ahmadov visited the TUBITAK-BILGEM center in Turkey. The primary goal of the visit was to broaden the application areas for avalanche photodiodes and to conduct future collaborative work.

Specialists of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Information Technologies of the University of West Bohemia held a seminar on the application of electronics in the background of high radiation at the Institute of Radiation Problems

Specialists of the Faculty of Electronics Engineering and Information Technologies of the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic were on a secondment at the Institute of Radiation Problems under the Horizon-MSCA-INNMEDSCAN grant, which was implemented with the support of the European Commission. Preparing electronic circuits in accordance with the grant project's first work package and holding in-depth discussions about future research on the prepared electronic circuits' radiation resistance to gamma rays using the Institute of Radiation Problems' and the Digital Development Agency's highly active Co-60 sources are the primary goals of the visit.

An international conference was attended by the scientist from the Institute of Radiation Problems

Professor Teymur Aghayev, who is a Doctor of Chemical Sciences and head of the laboratory "Radiation Chemistry of Heterogeneous Processes" at the Institute of Radiation Problems under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in the international conference "Fundamental and applied problems of modern physics" on October 19–21, 2023, in the city of Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan. The conference was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Physical and Technical Institute and to the 30th anniversary of the Institute of Materials Science.

The conference "Radiation safety problems: regional aspects," dedicated to the 75th anniversary of academician M.K. Karimov, was held

In honor of academician M.K. Karimov's 75th birthday, the Institute of Radiation Problems and Nakhchivan State University organized a scientific and technical conference on "Radiation Safety: Regional Aspects" on October 18–19, 2023.

Nakhchivan State University's Congress Hall hosted the conference's opening ceremony. In his introductory remarks, University Rector E. Isayev congratulated everyone on Independence Day and discussed the necessity of cooperation between the two fields of study—science and education. The speakers—academicians A. Hashimov, serving as ANAS's first vice president; professor A. Zamanov, vice-rector for scientific affairs at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University; academicians Ismayil Hajiyev and A. Garibov — then discussed Mahmud Karimov's noteworthy accomplishments during his tenure as ANAS president. They discussed his multifarious endeavors, the advances he brought about in the areas of personnel policy and science management, the National Strategy for the Development of Science formulated during those years, and his organizational efforts in science.
